5 EASY MISTAKES ARTICLE MARKETERS MAKE

Being one of the many successful article marketers is something that can come easily. There are, however, things that you need to avoid that will keep you from being among the many more who used to be article marketers and are now struggling to make money. Done correctly, article marketing can see huge positive results in a very cost effective way. Article marketing done poorly can be a huge waste of time, energy, and even money.

First mistake…making a boring title. Realize that the title of the article is going to be mixed in with quite a few others that your potential reader has to choose from. There are many of you competing for the same set of eyes. Don’t let your title be something that will blend in with all the rest. Make is something that will stand out and get noticed. Make sure that you don’t get too crazy and make sure that it is relevant to the topic you want to address, but, still be creative and you will stay competitive with other article marketers.

Second mistake…not having a clear purpose. What is the main reason you want the reader to read your article? Is there a goal that you have in mind? Be clear as to what you want them to do and give them plenty of reason to want to take the action you want them to take. Have a starting point and and ending point in planning your article and use everything in between to help them get from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’. This is something that article marketers fail to do all too often.

Third mistake…Not knowing your target audience. Article marketers need to keep in mind who your target audience is write to their level. If you are writing to a group of people who are typically very knowledgeable about the subject matter, then you better make sure that you are as well. Find out what they ask when they go online to search for this information and find how to relate to them. Study your target market and write to them.

Fourth mistake…writing articles that won’t get published. Look at the standards that article directories have and write your articles to fit the most strict of standards. Make sure that you have the minimum number of preferred words. Make sure that it is well written. Make sure that it doesn’t have any problems with links within your article and that you link to appropriate places. Article marketers will often forget to check the article they are trying to submit and see if it is in compliance only to have it rejected.

Fifth mistake…no call to action. As article marketers you have to remember that your goal is not just to inform, but to invite the reader to go to your website or to take what ever action you want them to take. Just as it is incredibly important to ask for the sale, it is important to ask them to click on the link that you provide.

If you think you are wasting your time writing these articles, fast forward to the time when you will see them printed and wide-spread on the Internet. Not to mention the sudden attention and interest that people are giving your website and your products or services.

Know that you have your keywords and keyword phrases, you must use them fully. An article must have good keyword density for a search engine to “feel” its presence. Articles should at least have ten to fifteen percent of keyword density in their content for search engines to rank a site high in their search results. Getting a high rank is what articles do best for a site.

Do a couple of brainstorming and jot down your brilliant ideas first. Think of some ways to attract the interest of your reader. Designate a time frame where you can write down all the ideas that you can use for your articles. By this time you should have done all your research and information searching. Review and reread your ideas and notes, gain mastery and sufficient familiarity with your topic so that writing them down later own would be easy for you.

enhancebusinessFor instance, what is a bigger priority, hanging out on the Warrior Forum’s Main Discussion section, OR writing an article (or two or three!) to promote your website, product or services? Obviously the latter should be a higher priority, but which one do you often choose to do instead? An article can be written in anywhere from 15 minutes, to an hour. Even I find myself spending anywhere from 10 minutes to several hours on the forum when I could be doing much more for my business. (Not that the information on the forum doesn’t help your business, because it very much does!).

This is an excellent group of advertising methods to combine and implement.
But, what if you were to add another marketing method in there, such as article writing for example. That would make it 5 methods instead of 4, making your new ‘article marketing’ method encompass a whopping 20% of your advertising!

If you have not yet gotten into video marketing yet, this is SERIOUSLY the time to do so. Again, this is something else that can also be outsourced or done quite easily by yourself, at home. YouTube.com is owned by Google and everybody knows how fast your video gets indexed by Google for a specific keyword(s), and the traffic that a single video can generate.

For example, if you have a website that is in the ‘make money online‘ niche, the best places to leave your business cards would be next to things that have to do with money. Next to the scratch-off lottery tickets at a convenient store or gas station is an excellent place to put a stack of cards that says “Make Money Online, Work From Home” or something related and more specific, such as “Earn $500 from Home!” and of course have your website URL nice and bold.
