One of the first things that you should do when looking at your ability to make your home more cost efficient is to know just what you are currently paying.

Now, mind you, if you are talking about a ten dollar investment, it does not take all of this research. But, if you are talking about replacing or amending any of your major energy producing systems in your home, such as your furnace, then it pays to pay attention to the details.
